To download file stream on your home computers, please follow these instructions: HERE

Drive File Stream is installed on all PC's connected to the schools network, with the intention of greatly improving your accessibility and usability of Google Drive. File Stream can be used to access all your Google Drive files from your computer without having to login to the online portal. This will greatly reduce disk space and increase upload sync time.
Below is a video giving you some helpful information on the capabilities and usage of File Stream. There's also a 2 minute quiz so you can check your understanding of this new feature.

With Drive File Stream, you can:
  1. Quickly see all your Google Drive files in Finder/Explorer (including Team Drives).
  2. Browse and organize Google Drive files without downloading all of them to your computer.
  3. Choose which files or folders you'd like to make available offline.
  4. Open files in common apps like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.
You should already be familiar with Drive's online file creation and storage facilities and how to add files to drive. If not I've included a couple of guide (links below) which can be used to help familiarise yourself:
  1. Google Education Training Centre (Some great videos and ideas tailored specifically for education)
  2. Google Drive Help Centre (A general help and troubleshooting support page)
With the additional use of File Stream, all file uploads to Drive will be done automatically whether they are documents, spreadsheets, images or videos. You can also use file stream as you would your N drive (personal document folder), with the added bonus that storage space is unlimited. With understanding and application of these new feature you daily workings and process should hopefully became easier and increase in productivity.
